Sharne and Luke, a Couch, a TV and a For Sale Sign

The ceremony was down by the lake at Southwards Car Museum in Paraparaumu under a bright hot Sun. Surrounded by native bush and set against a picturesque lake the old Car museum surprisingly makes for a very private occasion.

But a wedding on the Kapti coast would not be complete without a trip to the beach and Sharne and Luke’s wedding was no exception. The beach is where we told a little piece of their story. After the excitement of a big wedding their plans are to settle down in nice new home, do a bit of traveling and spend their days snuggling on the couch watching their favourite movies.

So we took a couch onto the beach along with a very old TV set and put together their story backdrop. There was not shortage of raucous behavior from the lads who put tremendous energy into their Haka, with their pants turned up and the waves lapping at their feet.

Mr. Whippy served everyone colourful creamy sugar from his van back at Southwards and then it was into the reception until very late. The crew at the Museum fed everyone beautiful food as usual. We didn’t finish until late but had a great time photographing all the dancing.

A big thanks to the Bridal party; Michelle, Kyra, Jaime, Mandy, Deanna, Perry, Ryan, Richard, Jimmy and Teina. A BIG, BIG thanks to Sharne and Luke too for being great sports! Thanks for the ice cream too!

Top Tips:
My Whippy. Makes for a delicious form of afternoon entertainment for the guests.
Hire a loud MC to rally people up for family group photos. Its like herding cats and can take a long time otherwise.

Babita and Kiran. Last of The Hindu Weddings This Season.

This season went out with a bang for our last wedding for 2011-2012. In typical Hindi form it was an early start and an extremely late finish. Gift giving, speeches, ceremonies, rice and bangles were all mixed together in a big melting pot of laughter, tears and dancing.

Babita and Kiran’s wedding was a fitting end to our season. We started the photos off with a Bride and Groom reveal down in Shelley Bay, Wellington.. This is where they “see each other” for the first time all dressed up and ready to Wed.

They borrowed a friends Scooter and we had some fun with that scooting up and down the road with Babita on side saddle pinion. This was part of their story when they travelled India together.

The Indian Hall hosted the 650 guests  for the Hindi and civil Ceremonies followed by speeches and gift giving.  The dancing started around 11pm and did not stop again until… ?

Carleen & Colin – A Trentham Wedding

Trentham Race Course is a popular wedding venue nestled in the Hutt Valley, near Wellington. Probably because of the size; the all inclusive service and the grounds for photos.

And this is where Carleen and Colin chose for their wedding.
Colin works mainly overseas, selling very expensive stuff to very expensive people and this keeps him away from Carleen for long periods of time so one would expect a wedding of this nature to be very emotional. The girls before the ceremony were a bag of nerves and Carleen trembled her way down the aisle to her man who was waiting with a similar affliction.

The rain held off… just, and they finally did it!

We had some fun with their wedding photography under the trees in the gardens. We even stripped the groom down to his bare chest to reveal his naval tattoos and in the process we shot some interesting intimate couple photos. I liked them.

We learnt a couple of things from this wedding:

1. Apparently the best wedding advice is... “fight naked”

And...

2. "I’m sexy and I know it", LAOM is probably the most popular wedding dance floor music this year.

Top tips. Try giving a slip of paper to each person during the reception and ask every guest to jot down their best wedding advice for the bride and groom. Then read out some of them after the speeches. Some of the comments are unmentionable, but a few are very, very funny.
